About Emeco

Founded in 1944 by Wilton Carlyle Dinges, Emeco was designing as a war was on the horizon and functionality of design was a key priority. The 1006 Navy Chair was launched for warships and the American Navy, but now finds itself in offices, hotels and restaurants.

The design was taken from warships to showrooms in 1998, where handcrafted chairs made from recycled materials took the design industry by storm. Through a collaboration with Philippe Starck, classic, American design staples were brought into fruition.

The Emeco principle, is that if you make something well, it can survive anything, be it a world war, or the test of time in the design industry.
