Norman Foster’s first UK hotel project, ME London, opened its doors at the beginning of this year. Step through its doors and you’ll find an NY-style steakhouse, Italian kitchen and the obligatory to-die-for spa. There are 157 guest rooms, with the pick of the bunch being the ultra-luxe Suite ME, a two-storey penthouse in a turret, which dishes up everything from 55-inch TVs to knockout views over Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament.
Foster + Partners designed the hotel’s interiors and exteriors, and the result is a fusion of classic traditions and contemporary detail. There are some great design touches throughout, not least the dramatic monochrome palette – upstairs, black marble corridors lead to crisp white bedrooms.
