by Charlotte Duckworth in News & Noteworthy

Arguably the most important UK event on the luxury interiors agenda – Decorex international – starts this Sunday, 21 September.

Returning to its original Syon Park location, Decorex has this year gathered more then 300 luxury interiors brands over four days, covering the whole scope of the industry with its exhibitors, insightful talks and inspiring features. We’ve chosen our favourites across these categories…

Show Entrance

Each of the eight show entrances at Decorex 2014 are inspired by one of the paintings in “A Rake’s Progress” by 18th century English artist William Hogarth. Created by leading brands and industry designers, including Nigel Coates, Harlequin London, Kit Kemp, Andrew Martin, de Gournay and Russell Sage, the highly anticipated entrances have been put together in association with the renowned John Soane Museum, and is the perfect way to begin the show.

Harlequin London

Last year, Harlequin London won the Decorex best stand award, with their two-storey ‘apartment,’ inspired by Decorex 2013’s theme of ‘Kirigami Palace.’ This year they’re showcasing four key themes in tableware, decorative accessories and lighting – geometrics, neo-futurism, foliage and colour-blocking – will they win two years in a row? We’ll have to wait and see…

April Russell

With such a refreshing take on the role of art within the home, interior designer April Russell is one to watch. Heading up seminar talk ‘The Art of Interiors,’ April – alongside a team of experts – is set to discuss the importance of a sophisticated, well-curated art collection, using her Collector’s Townhouse project as a case study.

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, there is Sanderson, one of the oldest surviving English brands in its field. With a collection of quintessentially English fabrics, wallpapers, paint and home accessory collections Sanderson offers a traditional, country house feel. Reaching out to a younger market is their Chika collection and ‘Sanderson HOME’ line, both coming to Decorex this month.

In The Making

‘In the making’ is a series of interactive installations showcasing the creation and creativity behind some of the much-loved products from renowned Decorex exhibitors, and the perfect way to learn more about the creative design process.

A Rum Fellow

‘A Rum Fellow’ is a perfect example of new the type of new brands exhibiting at Decorex International, as the show widens its appeal and ensures it sets the trends for years to come.
