Description

This statement area rug, aptly named the Splash Rug, shows mess in all of its spectacular glory. When it comes to the Splash Rug, Designer Staffan Tollgard says, “Working with colour and texture is a passion of mine, and this very simple rug arrived out of a desire to find a visually strong design that would work on a round rug. The splash of paint on a simple surface is childishly satisfying. The idea that something spilled or dropped, almost accidentally, is transformed into a piece of art is also very appealing. The strength of Splash was such that when we changed the format of the rug it remained as satisfying. An additional level of luxury is added through the use of silk in the splatter making it seem as though the paint has been spilled only moments earlier. The delicately carved edges mimic the surface tension of a liquid caught at the point of motion.”
