The Tatou Ceiling Lamp has a clever overall pattern that consists of interlocking shapes that are reminiscent of honeycomb. Designed by Patricia Urquiola for the Italian brand that specialises in lighting design, Flos, this is an intricate yet contemporary piece. The curved lines of the pattern are echoed in the clean, curved lines of the shade. The Tatou Ceiling Lamp has a feeling of modernity that is reflected in its materials - with its external diffuser in polycarbonate, and its internal diffuser in injection printed opal polycarbonate, which provides diffused and atmospheric light. The shade is available in white, black and ochre-grey, each of which brings a dramatically different look to the piece - the white seems futuristic, the black seems reminiscent of more traditional glass shades and the ochre-grey has a more 'retro' feel. Measuring at 50 cm across, the shade is 31.9 cm high - and its compact proportions make it possible to hang a single shade, or to group them together to create an installation of sorts.
