Our clients, a family of five based overseas, had owned this three-bedroom property for two generations and it hadn’t been touched since it was last refurbished in the 1970s. We were commissioned to undertake a complete renovation to bring it up to date. Our brief was to create a stylish, contemporary and comfortable family home with lots of light, to include a large master suite, a spacious en-suite guest room and a large triple room for our clients’ three children to share. They also wanted the latest media equipment to be installed, along with plenty of storage to house their large wine collection and many personal effects.
We responded by making the wide hallway narrower in order to maximise the dimensions of the rooms and successfully modified the floor plan to create three spacious en-suite bedrooms, a guest cloakroom and a large open-plan reception/dining room, incorporating bespoke storage for our clients’ wine collection. In the spacious kitchen, we worked closely with Connaught Kitchens to design and install a range of stunning units by Leicht, providing a contemporary take on a country kitchen, complete with high-end Gaggenhau appliances and an all-important wine cooler.
The kitchen floor and all bathrooms featured luxurious but highly practical marble-effect porcelain tiles, whilst glass and mother-of-pearl mosaic tiles added an air of opulence to the master en-suite, along with shower heads, valves and sanitaryware by Lefroy Brooks.
In order to maximise light, the bespoke joinery we created featured mirrored panels and back-lit LED lighting, and a full smart home system was installed to satisfy our clients’ AV requirements. We also sourced individual items of furniture for the scheme, such as a delightful vintage roll-top writing desk, to create a homely and individual feel.
The project required a licence to alter the layout from the building management, which proved quite straightforward since this was our third project in the block and we knew all the parties involved. We succeeded in keeping the apartment’s open-plan living space and successfully completed the project in just six months from initial brief to handover.
