The brief for this project was to achieve a warm ‘homely’ design that reflects a luxury lifestyle yet still be playful and colourful. In order to achieve that, we decided to take on the stone/beige/bronze tones as the back drop to the project and decide on a dominant colour that will feature in the key elements of the project, which is burgundy. These colours create the cosy warm environment that the client is looking for.
We steered clear from the ‘trendy’ grey tones that are mainly used in the current projects out there as they usually reflect a colder/less homely environments.
Each piece of furniture for this project was specifically designed by 5mm in order to accommodate to the requirements of this project. The sofas used light bronze and stone colour fabrics with different textures to create a depth into the design. The tub chairs were manipulated to incorporate 2 colours and textures into the design. The inside of the chair featured a burgundy 100% soft wool fabric while the back of the chair feature a pattern cut velvet fabric that ties in with the sofa fabric. This enhanced the unity of the design.
In order to lift the project up and lighten the design, we featured bespoke coffee and side tables that incorporated White Calacatta Marble with golden veins supported by a light bronze frame with brushed finishes. The pieces were designed by 5mm and manufactured in Milan, using one of our trusted furniture factories that we work with. This ensured that we cut the middle man and lower the cost of the product to work with our design budget.
The blinds were custom digital print using the exact shade of burgundy used on the chairs and ottoman. The walls featured our 5mm signature Polished Plaster finish that gives a stone wall wash effect to the space.
In order to add another dimension to the design elements, we designed a bespoke sideboard unit with antiqued mirrored doors that have an Art-Deco feel. (Art Deco is an art style that was dominant in the 1920s) that served as the display surface for a 1920 antique Lioness sculpture.
The artwork that was selected for this project was kept to a black/white/grey tones as we did not want to change the balance of colours for the scheme. We used photography art by a world renounced photographer Vincent Peters to add a soft feminine touch to the environment.
We dealt with the ‘playful’ side of the brief by using multi patterned cushions. Hermes was the perfect choice as they provided playful prints that tie in together but add that extra luxury element to the design.
The 8 person dining table featured a bespoke brushed bronze base with walnut trims at the top, which can be viewed through the glass top.
The entrance feature a bespoke slim console with black marble with an antique pewter ink well from Portugal. The ink well generated the idea of the guest book for visitors to sign and leave a comment to home owner.
