For the redesign of this 2 bedroom, London flat, the team reconfigured the space into a luxurious city base, with the feel of a five star hotel suite. The brief was to create a cosy and cosseting home, whilst at the same time a perfect space for entertaining. Maximising space was a priority, with every last centimetre of storage space being utilised, including a feature storage space in grey oak and lacquered timber, complete with mirror backed open boxes for storing shoes and handbags.
Full height doors were fitted wherever possible to create an illusion of space along with illuminated recessed ceilings in the bathrooms, kitchen and hallways which not only added height to rooms but also concealed air vents. This bedroom was not a big space so by mirroring the wall behind the bed we opened up the space and added a sense of glamour.
We kept to a light colour palette with fresh accents of yellow to brighten up the room and to create a calm feel. A cushion wrapped in a Hermes fabric added a sense of glamour to the scheme. The bedside lamps in perspex were by Porta Romana. The multi coloured ceramic lamp was by Jonathan Adler. We aimed for a glamorous, but eclectic look in this Mayfair apartment.
The owners were collectors of 20th century art so one of their large pieces became the focal point in the dining area. By using a fresh and elegant scheme we brightened up the space as it was situated on the lower ground floor. Lighting was an important factor, so we added an over scale circular light pendant made out of crystals in the seating area. The sofa was a bespoke piece as were the dining chairs and joinery. The bronze coffee table was by a supplier called Collection Pierre, the silver embossed lamp in the background by McGuire.
